During an expansion of their buildings, hoteliers Eduard “Eddy” Meyer and Lothar Schedler decided on a joint heating system. Together with entechma GmbH, which develops energy concepts, they designed a system solution with the UltraGas (350) gas boiler as the central component.

This gas boiler is much more sustainable than the hotels’ old oil heating systems. Eddy Meyer even plans to operate his heating system with environmentally friendly bio-LPG in the future. The sustainability aspect, alongside cost savings, was a key argument for choosing the Hoval condensing boiler UltraGas. The first few months since its commissioning in December 2018 have proven the hoteliers right: they are already saving at least 30 percent on energy costs.

The gas boiler impresses with state-of-the-art technology and high-quality materials. A major advantage is the integrated control technology that automatically modulates the output. The premix burner developed by Hoval adjusts the heating output continuously to the current heat demand. This increases efficiency by avoiding energy-consuming restarts. The boiler only operates at full capacity when the heating system is under peak load, such as on a winter morning when the outdoor pools are heated to 30°C and most guests are using the sanitary facilities simultaneously. The boiler’s enormous capacity is also utilized in the afternoon when guests return from the ski slopes. One of the most important materials is the high-quality, corrosion-resistant stainless steel on the water side of the heat exchanger tubes. It ensures an extremely long service life, as it withstands the stress of fluctuating water temperatures and qualities.
